Spotlight on Denbighshire Community Sport Awards 2017

Denbighshire has celebrated the cream of sporting talent in the county at a glittering awards ceremony held on the 9th November at Llangollen Pavilion.

Out of 150 nominations, the judging panel drew up a final shortlist of three for each category. The winners were announced on the night:-

The winners were:

          Junior Sports Performer - Sacha Didcote

          Young Inspiration - Jonathan Dawes

          Sport in School Award - Ysgol Llywelyn

          Disability Sport Award - Anastasia Blease

          Sports performer - Lesley Wilde

          Team/club of the year - Prestatyn Running Club - Super Vets     Leisure Logo

          Coach of the Year - Corey Williams

          Volunteer of the Year - Izzy Retout

          Lifetime achievement - Ian Price

Councillor Bobby Feeley, Lead Member for Well-being and Independence paid tribute to the wealth of sporting talent in Denbighshire:  "I am delighted to have been part of the celebrations at the award ceremony. The standard of the nominations this year was outstanding. It is fantastic to see how many talented people we have here in Denbighshire. I pass on my congratulations to all of the winners and runners up”.

Most of the nominees and winners give up their own time to help improve community sport in Denbighshire. They work closely with the officers in Strategic Leisure, including the Disability Sport Officer and the Active Young People team.
