County Voice: December 2022

Do you know your recycling ABC’s?

Do you know how to recycle your old bike, or how to dispose of your roller blinds?

The Council has launched a handy Recycling A to Z guide to help you recycle as much as you can and dispose of your waste safely. This easy-to-use guide includes information on how to safely recycle or dispose of almost every item you can think of in handy alphabetical order.

We throw away all sorts of items from our homes every day and lots of these things that are thrown in the bin can be recycled, such as clothes and electrical items. The average person creates around 7 times their body weight in waste each year, therefore it is important this waste is recycled as often as possible.

Councillor Barry Mellor, Lead Member for Environment and Transport said: “This easy-to-use guide provides brilliant information on how to recycle or dispose of almost any household waste you can think of.

"This helps us create a greener Denbighshire and helps clear up any confusion with recycling some of the more complicated items”.

This is really useful, thank you for putting it together. It does, however, have a major flaw as the guide states that some items, such as crisp packets & Pringle tubes, cannot be recycled and should be placed in the general waste collection. Whilst the Council may not be able to recycle them they can be recycled through the Terracycle scheme which has local collection points within the county. Could the guide be updated to include a link to Terracycle for those items?

    Hi Mark

Thank you for your response. It's good to know that it has proved useful. Regarding your comment about not being able to recycle some items, we are going to review it with the Recycling Team who have put the information together for us and will update the article once they have had an opportunity of looking at it.

    Thanks again.

    Regards

    Catrin
