Councillor Alan James to take up role of Cabinet Member for Local Development and Planning

Following the sad passing of Councillor Win Mullen-James in May, her loving husband has now gracefully offered to step forward to continue her duties as Denbighshire County Council’s Lead Member for Local Development and Planning.

After a 30-year career as a Social Worker, specialising in Mental Health and Childcare, Councillor Alan James was elected to Rhyl Town Council in 2012.

In October of 2016, Councillor James was elected to County Council at a bi -election. Councillor James also served as Mayor of Rhyl for the 2017/18 term as Mayor of Rhyl.

Councillor James served as chair of Denbighshire County Council for the 2020/21 term.

Councillor James currently sits as vice chair of planning and is also on various committees.

Councillor Jason McLellan, Leader of the Council and Lead Member for Economic Growth & Tackling Deprivation said:

“Councillor Alan James is an experienced and respected councillor and has a wealth of knowledge on planning issues.

He is hard working and I, and the rest of Cabinet, are looking forward to working with him.”
