Denbighshire and Conwy Trading Standards are offering free caravan and campervan weighing and advice sessions.
Residents who are going on in holiday in a touring or motor caravan can make sure that they are not overloading their vehicle or caravan and putting themselves at risk.
The free caravan weighing and advice sessions are available for Denbighshire and Conwy residents, and for those in other local authority areas if they can travel to the location.
This is an advice session, and no action will be taken if overloading or other issues are found, but we will work with you to reduce the load.
The free weight checks will take place at the weighbridge on the A525 between Rhuddlan and St Asaph on the following dates and times:
- Friday, 1 August (10am - 2pm)
- Thursday, 21 August (10am - 3pm)Appointments are not necessary for these sessions and residents are welcome to attend any of the listed sessions and find out if they’re within the legal weights for their vehicles.
The weighbridge can be found on the Rhuddlan to St Asaph A525 road, approximately three quarters of a mile from Rhuddlan, located in the layby, there will be signs indicating the weighbridge is in operation.
Councillor Alan James, Lead Member for Local Development and Planning said:
“We are encouraging touring and motor caravan owners to take advantage of these free weighing and advice sessions being held by Denbighshire’s Trading Standards team in conjunction with colleagues from Conwy.
“It is important to make sure you are not overloading your vehicle or caravan and therefore protecting yourself and others.”

Support Biodiversity with BIONET's Nature Day at Nantclwyd y Dre
Preparations are in hand for BIONET's annual Nature Day at Nantclwyd y Dre historic house and gardens, Ruthin.
Conservationists, environmental enthusiasts, and anyone who enjoys getting hands on with nature is invited to the free event taking place on Sunday 10th August between 11am and 3pm, to meet local wildlife organisations and enjoy fun family activities including facepainting, live storytelling sessions, and willow weaving activities.
The Nature Partnership of North East Wales, BIONET covers the counties of Conwy, Denbighshire, Flintshire and Wrexham, working to conserve, protect and enhance the biodiversity of the region for current and future generations.
Clare Owen, BIONET Project Officer said: “Our annual Nature Day is all about highlighting the fantastic work that is happening within the region to encourage our biodiversity to thrive and survive and sharing this with the local community.
She added: "It is also chance for children to develop their understanding of the local environment thanks to many of the organisations at the event providing fun ways to learn more about the work they do, and the brilliant gardens at Nantclwyd y Dre provides a wonderful setting for the day.”
Joining BIONET will be Chester University, Denbighshire Tree Nursery, Denbighshire Countryside Services, Clocaenog Red Squirrel's Trust, Ruthin Friends of the Earth, Nature For Health, BTO, Sea Watch Foundation, Wild Ground and more.
Councillor Emrys Wynne, Denbighshire’s Lead Member for Welsh language, Culture and Heritage, said: “The Bionet Nature Day has become a great annual event at Nantclwyd Y Dre for all ages to experience how we look after our wildlife across the region and what the public can also do in support. I encourage all families to come and join the free fun activities on the day.”
The Nature Day is funded by the Welsh Government Local Nature Partnership scheme through the WCVA
