New Environmental Crime Officers Carry Out Joint Patrols at Cae Hywel Park

Denbighshire County Council's new Environmental Crime and Behaviour Change Officers have been carrying out high-visibility patrols at Cae Hywel Park in Denbigh as part of ongoing efforts to tackle anti-social behaviour (ASB), fly-tipping and littering.

The patrols form part of the Council's commitment to creating cleaner, safer public spaces and ensuring residents can enjoy local parks free from environmental crime and nuisance behaviour.

The joint visit brought together Local Member Councillor Pauline Edwards, North Wales Police PCSOs and Denbighshire County Council's Environmental Crime Officers, demonstrating a strong partnership approach to addressing local concerns and providing reassurance to the community.

The Environmental Crime Team engaged with park users, offered advice on responsible waste disposal and highlighted the Council's commitment to taking action against environmental offences. The visit also provided an opportunity to identify any issues within the park and discuss further measures to improve the area.

Jonathan Brittain-Hughes, Environmental Crime Manager for Denbighshire County Council, said:

"Our new Environmental Crime Officers are already making a positive impact by carrying out regular patrols in communities across Denbighshire. Working alongside our partners, including North Wales Police and local elected members, enables us to respond to local concerns, engage with residents and tackle environmental crime where it occurs.

"High-visibility patrols act as both a reassurance to the community and a deterrent to those who choose to commit environmental offences. We want everyone to enjoy our parks and open spaces, and we will continue to work with our partners to address anti-social behaviour, littering and fly-tipping wherever it occurs."

Cllr Barry Mellor, Lead Member for Environment and Transport, added: “We want to also remind everyone in the county that they have a legal duty to ensure their waste is disposed of correctly. Fly tipping and illegal waste disposal can have a serious impact on the environment and can also lead to significant fines for those responsible.”

Denbighshire County Council will continue to carry out regular patrols at Cae Hywel Park and other locations across the county. Anyone caught fly-tipping, littering or committing other environmental offences may face enforcement action, including the issue of a Fixed Penalty Notice or prosecution where appropriate.
