An evening of classical guitar at Nantclwyd y Dre historic has been hailed a great success, with tickets for the performance selling out.

Acclaimed guitarist Jonathan Richards performed to a full house at Nantclwyd y Dre, presenting an engaging and varied programme which brought together renaissance and traditional music works by Spanish masters Isaac Albéniz and Enrique Granados, and a selection of Jonathan’s own original compositions.

The audience welcomed Jonathan’s expressive performance, which created an intimate atmosphere and demonstrated the range of the classical guitar.

The concert formed part of Nantclwyd y Dre’s developing classical recital series and wider events programme, which aims to continue the house’s tradition as a place for celebrating the arts.

Kate Thomson, Nantclwyd y Dre Site Manager, said:

“We were delighted to welcome Jonathan Richards to Nantclwyd y Dre and to see the house filled with people enjoying the performance, which was so well received, and we’re delighted to announce that he will be returning to Nantclwyd y Dre next year for another evening of classical guitar.”

Councillor Huw Hilditch-Roberts, Deputy Leader and Lead Member for Education & Children, Welsh Language, Culture and Heritage said:

“Nantclwyd y Dre boast significant historic value and it’s important that we remember and celebrate the history that is on our doorstep. Events such as these provide an alternative way to enjoy the house, and we look forward to welcoming others to similar events in the future”.

Following the success of this year’s concert, Jonathan Richards is set to return to Nantclwyd y Dre next year, giving audiences another opportunity to experience his performance in the unique surroundings of the historic house.

Further details of next year’s performance will be announced in due course. For further information, please contact the Denbighshire Heritage Service via heritage@denbighshire.gov.uk
