Auction of Cyffylliog Properties Postponed Pending Community Discussions

The proposed auction of six properties in the village of Cyffylliog near Ruthin has been postponed following concerns raised by the local member.

The six houses at Bryn Awelon were due to be sold as a single lot in BTG Eddisons Property Auctions’ live stream auction on 30 September.

The decision to postpone the sale of these properties at the September auction follows meetings and discussions between Denbighshire’s Deputy Leader, Cllr Huw Hilditch-Roberts, Lead Member for Housing and the Local Development Plan, Cllr Geraint Lloyd-Williams, and local ward member, Cllr Ian Evans, to consider concerns raised by residents about the future of the properties.

The postponement will allow time for a site visit and a public meeting with local residents to discuss the situation and explore potential options for the homes before any further decisions are made.

Cllr Huw Hilditch-Roberts, Deputy Leader of Denbighshire County Council, said, “We had a constructive meeting with Cllr Evans after his request for us to consider local residents’ views, which has led to the postponement of the sale. We will be listening carefully to the concerns raised by residents and feel it’s important to postpone the sale to allow further discussions to take place. We want to ensure that local people have an opportunity to share their views and that all options can be fully considered."

Cllr Geraint Lloyd-Williams said, “Local housing is a priority for this administration and these properties are an important issue for the local community. The postponement will give us the opportunity to visit the site, meet with residents and have constructive conversations about the future of the homes.”

A public meeting for local residents will be arranged and details will be announced in due course by Cllr Evans.
