Council celebrates Emergency Services Day

Denbighshire County Council has marked Emergency Services Day (9 September) by raising a flag in their honour.

The awareness day, which was first celebrated in 2018, recognises emergency service personnel and their immense contribution to society, who help to provide a safe and supported environment for us all.

A flag was raised outside of County Hall in Ruthin to commemorate the day. A minute silence was also observed during the ceremony.

Councillor Bobby Feeley, Chair of Denbighshire County Council, said:

“This awareness day provides us with an opportunity to thank emergency services personnel for the dedicated service they provide to us all on a daily basis.

Over two million people work in the British emergency services today, many of whom are volunteers. Volunteers are an essential part of the emergency services family, and they play a core part in keeping us safe.

Emergency Services Day promotes the work of the emergency services, promotes using the emergency services responsibly, educates the public about basic lifesaving skills, and promotes the many career and volunteering opportunities available.”
