Ysgol Gymraeg Henllan pupils share an important message about school attendance
Pupils at Ysgol Gymraeg Henllan have been getting their newsreader hats on to help spread an important message about the value of coming to school every day.
Before the summer holidays, Miss Glover worked with the school’s Year 6 pupils to create a news-style video reminding pupils and families about the importance of attending school regularly, arriving on time and, wherever possible, avoiding taking holidays during term time.
The pupils did a fantastic job and the school is incredibly proud of the finished video – and the important message they have shared.
At Ysgol Gymraeg Henllan, good attendance is a key priority. Being in school regularly gives children the opportunity to learn, develop friendships, build confidence and take part in the many activities and experiences on offer throughout the school year.
Improving attendance is also a priority for Welsh Government and Denbighshire County Council, with schools and partners working together to support children and families and help ensure every child has the best possible opportunities to succeed.
The school recognises that family holidays are an important opportunity to spend time together and make memories. However, taking holidays during school term can mean children miss valuable learning and can disrupt their routines.
Every day in school matters, and the school is encouraging families to make the most of the school holiday periods wherever possible, rather than requesting leave during term time.
