Read to the Beat Challenge hits all the right notes this summer

Denbighshire Libraries are celebrating the fantastic response to this year's Read to the Beat Summer Reading Challenge, with children and families across the county already proving themselves to be true reading rockstars.

Library staff have loved seeing young readers get involved in the challenge, borrowing books, discovering new stories and taking part in a range of exciting music-themed activities throughout the summer.

So far, participants have enjoyed creative craft sessions, beatboxing and voice looping workshops with Mr Phormula, a visit from the Welsh Whisperer exploring his book of farm machinery, and Diesel and Me, the brand-new one-man show from local author Oliver Sykes.

There is still plenty of time for children and families to get involved.

Deborah Owen, Principal Librarian, said:

"It's been wonderful to see so many children and families taking part in this year's Summer Reading Challenge. Our libraries have been buzzing with activity, and it's fantastic to see young people developing a love of reading while enjoying a wide range of fun, creative events. I'd encourage anyone who hasn't signed up yet to pop along to their local library and join in the challenge before it comes to an end."

The Read to the Beat Summer Reading Challenge runs until the end of September. Children who complete the challenge can still collect their medal, so don't miss out on the chance to finish your reading adventure and celebrate your achievement.
