Ruthin Gaol’s Halloween Spectacular

Ruthin Gaol Museum had a very busy Halloween Week this October, celebrating all things spooky.

The Gaol was decorated with jack o’ lanterns, skeletons, bats and spiders, and creepy music added to the eerie ambience in our Victorian prison.

Our wonderful team put on Halloween-themed activities for visitors to enjoy, including mask-making, quizzes and making scary spiders and bats.

In the ‘Halloween Hunt’ visitors searched for ingredients to the witch’s broth hidden around the Gaol to help her finish her spell.

Over 400 visitors of all ages enjoyed the festivities and we were happy to see so many in costume turn up, plenty of people getting into the Halloween spirit this year!

New audio tours for 2019 at Ruthin Gaol and Plas Newydd (Llangollen)

Interactive Tours

Visitors to Plas Newydd (Llangollen) and Ruthin Gaol have enjoyed interactive audio tours at these historical sites for years. However, new information about the history of the buildings and people that used them has stimulated a grant funded project to add more stories to the tours and change to simpler, more lightweight technology. They will also feature a special children’s tour for younger visitors, containing fun and interactive storytelling and an educational quiz…more for the kids to do whilst the grown-ups enjoy their visit!

The new audio tour system will be live for the 2019 season.
