Over 2,200 hours of support delivered by Denbighshire Adult Social Care Edge of Care Volunteers

Volunteers with Denbighshire County Council's Adult Social Care Edge of Care Team have contributed a total of 2,202 hours of support over the past twelve months, helping citizens, families and carers across the county build confidence, stay connected and access vital community support.

Over the last year, 64 active volunteers have supported 49 Denbighshire citizens through the Edge of Care Volunteering Service, offering encouragement, practical assistance and a social connection to people who may be experiencing isolation, low confidence, family pressures, mental health challenges or other difficult life circumstances.

Throughout the 2,202 hours, volunteers have offered companionship and practical help, from supporting people to reconnect with their communities to helping carers feel more able to continue in their caring roles.

The Adult Social Care Edge of Care Team is now keen to build on this impact by recruiting new volunteers from all backgrounds. No previous experience is necessary, as full training and ongoing support will be provided.

New volunteers could help by:

• Supporting individuals to access community groups, activities, and services.
• Providing companionship and helping reduce loneliness and social isolation.
• Assisting individuals to build confidence and independence.
• Encouraging participation in positive health and wellbeing activities.
• Helping people reconnect with their local community and support networks.

Volunteering opens the door to develop new skills and experience, and the service provides a comprehensive induction and training as well ongoing supervision and support.
