Fly-tipper fined after dumping household waste next to Rhuallt litter bin

A person who illegally dumped household waste next to a council litter bin on Holywell Road in Rhuallt has been fined £250 following an investigation by Denbighshire County Council’s Environmental Crime Team.
Officers attended the location following a report of fly-tipping and found several bags of domestic waste dumped next to the council litter bin.
Following an investigation, officers searched the waste and gathered evidential material from within the fly-tip which helped identify the person responsible.
The investigation continued and the offender was subsequently identified and issued with a £250 Fixed Penalty Notice for the offence.
The case highlights that placing waste next to a litter bin does not make it acceptable disposal. Litter bins are provided for small amounts of litter and are not intended for household or commercial waste.
Cllr Barry Mellor, Lead Member for Environment and Transport, said: "Our message is clear, fly-tipping and irresponsible waste disposal will not be tolerated in Denbighshire. We will continue to take robust action against those who contribute to environmental crime and work to keep our county clean and safe for everyone."
