Partnership plays key role in supporting residents

The partnership between Denbighshire County Council and Citizens Advice has gone from strength to strength since it began more than a decade ago, helping residents navigate ongoing cost of living pressures and improve their financial wellbeing.

Reducing poverty and supporting the welfare of Denbighshire residents remains a key priority for the Council. Citizens Advice Denbighshire continues to play a vital role in achieving this aim, generating significant financial gains for residents while helping to prevent homelessness, reduce fuel poverty and strengthen financial resilience across the county.

“We know that rising living costs continue to place immense pressure on many of our residents. Our ongoing partnership with Citizens Advice is about much more than helping people manage immediate crises; it is about building a stronger and more resilient community.

By working together, we can provide seamless, early intervention support and holistic advice that addresses the root causes of financial hardship. The partnership combines the Council’s resources with Citizens Advice’s expertise and enables us to proactively support residents, provide debt and benefit advice, and contribute directly to our corporate priority of creating a fairer, safer and more equal Denbighshire.”

““This partnership reflects our shared commitment to improving outcomes for people across Denbighshire. Citizens Advice Denbighshire provides free, confidential, independent and impartial advice, and we play a vital role in early intervention and prevention, helping people to address problems before they reach crisis point.

During 2025–26, we secured £10.26 million in additional income for local residents and supported people with more than £11.2 million of debt issues. We also achieved almost £347,000 in energy savings and provided energy advice to 729 households.

These results demonstrate the significant social and economic value this partnership brings to our communities. None of this would be possible without our dedicated staff and volunteers, and I would like to personally thank every one of them for their continued commitment and hard work.”
